This self-emptying robot with a budget does a decent job on hard floors and low-pile carpet. Its combination brush reaches corners and edges, and then automatically increases suction when it spots carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt embedded in the middle of the pile carpet. The IQ's small footprint for docks and its self-emptying feature are nice touches. If you want to change the floor's levels or define no-go areas, you'll need to manually reset the map.
The IQ's app has some advanced mapping and automation features but it's missing no-go zones, which are available on iRobot models. The smart-pathing system of the app permits for better maneuverability and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is very effective, although it can get caught in rug tassels.
In our tests, we discovered that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to remove the majority of hair on bare floors and a good amount of medium-pile rug. It was less efficient with shag carpets. It had a hard time reaching dirt and dust embedded within the fibers. It did a decent job of maneuvering the legs of chairs, tight spaces, and the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. We did notice that it was a little slower on floors with no flooring, but it regained speed and performed better than the other robots we tried.
The IQ is a better option for most users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on charge, and is capable of maneuvering itself around obstacles. It also comes with mopping attachments that are able to tackle sticky messes. The iRobot, however, is better constructed and has less components that need maintenance or replacement, incurs less recurring costs, can create virtual no-go zones using its companion application. It can continue cleaning where it left off, even if the battery runs out before it finishes. The iRobot can be controlled by voice commands, which is a major benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S from Eufy isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum available, but it does offer great cleaning power for a low price. The device is capable of bumping into furniture and people along its route. However, it is able to detect obstacles using sensors. When it comes across them, it stops and lets out a loud sound so you can manually guide it around the obstacle and then get it back to work.
Another great aspect of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode that allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction power to match the floor type and the amount of mess. The remote control makes it easy to direct the 11S to your desired location.
Single Room Mode is a great option for those with small furniture in the room you'd like to vacuum. The eufy can spend up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.
You can also choose Edge Cleaning which reduces the amount of time spent in each location to 20 minutes for optimal battery life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling manner, cleaning corners and edges.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a great mid-range vacuum cleaner that excels on carpet. Its performance on floors that are not bare is also exceptional. It is able to remove fine debris like rice effortlessly and doesn't lose suction efficiency even as its dirt bin gets full. Its air-sealed, allergy-friendly design capture allergens to keep your family safe. It has an onboard HEPA and self-emptying bin so you don't need any additional filters or vacuum bags.
It's not as powerful as more expensive models, but it's great for tackling dirt and deep cleaning. It comes with two cameras in front that provide a live feed to your smartphone.
